Airbnb looking at flight market

Having shaken up the hotel sector Airbnb now has its sights on the flight market, developing a flight-booking tool in a bid to compete with Priceline and Expedia.

Airbnb looking at flight market as it builds new revenue streams

Aiming to launch the service by 2018, the project, known as Flights, could involve building or acquiring an online travel agency, or licensing data from other providers such as Amadeus IT Group or Sabre Corporation.

Its most recent innovation was Airbnb Trips, which opened up tour bookings, restaurant reservations and other services to travellers looking to feel more connected with the places they visit.

The firm also partnered with online booking app Resy to let travellers make restaurant reservations through Airbnb.
