Opportunities to expand Indigenous tourism businesses on offer at AITC
The 2018 Conference will be hosted on Eastern Maar country in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road, home of the Gadubanud people.
Conference participants will connect, share and hear from a range of tourism and related businesses operating across Australia, and internationally. They will also get an opportunity to inform arrangements for the World Indigenous Tourism Summit to be held in Perth in 2020 – offering an opportunity for aspirational, and existing business operators and those tasked to support Aboriginal business growth to learn more about and promote Aboriginal-led tourism experience on a national and world-stage.
“Amazing Aboriginal led tourism experiences are happening across Australia in regional, remote and urban contexts, and there is a lot more work to do to grow this opportunity further, and for more of our people,” said Eastern Maar CEO Jamie Lowe.
Leanne Miller, Yorta Yorta woman and Outback Academy Australia Chairperson, says she is excited about how this conference is growing the engagement of youth in this industry.
“We need to grow the next generation of culturally strong, capable, and ethical entrepreneurs across all industries, including tourism,” she said.
AITC takes place on October 30 to November 1.
