No stranger to Brisbane, Matt Moran has just launched his latest venture Little Big House. Teaming up with Solotel, the new Southpoint precinct venue is the third venue after ARIA and Riverbar & Kitchen. The heritage-listed building has been given a thoroughly modern revamp inside with a hot-pink pool table and a karaoke room adding to the casual bar and dining offering.
Salt Meats Cheese Gasworks has just opened in Brisbane, joining a growing line-up of the family-owned restaurants, which includes Surfers Paradise, five venues in Sydney and the recently launched food truck, Fuel. The new Brisbane venue seats just over 130 patrons across the outdoor space, indoor restaurant, cocktail bar and pizza bar.
Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves development has signed some big-name chefs and restaurateurs. Set to open in 2018, the 3.4 hectare redevelopment under the Story Bridge will see Jonathan Barthelmess head up a new concept Greek restaurant and bar; Matt Yazbek will launch an izakaya-style restaurant and bar under the Toko brand; and Andrew Baturo will oversee Stanley, a 180-seat Hong Kong-inspired eatery. The site will also be home to an onsite craft brewery and coffee roaster. Halcyon House exec chef Ben Devlin is also on hand to oversee the events catering.
Brisbane chef Josue (Josh) Lopez has finished up a five year stint at two-hatted GOMA Restaurant to spearhead the food and beverage offering in the new flagship Emporium Hotel Southpoint at South Bank, due for completion in mid-2018. Gomez is being given free rein to bring his creative flair to the hotel’s yet-to-be-named signature restaurant.
