Cairns Convention Centre says thanks in steel

The Cairns Convention Centre has commissioned some special gifts for its partners and clients following its recent $13 million refurbishment.

Manta rays sculpted from salvaged steel from Cairns Convention Centre

mantaraysSteel removed from the Centre’s roof during refurbishment work was salvaged and made into sculptures by local indigenous business Aboriginal Steel Art.

Artist Wayne McGinness based his design using the natural curve in the steel to make the sculpted manta rays, which can be found along the Australian East Coast.

The Centre is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
