Harry and Meghan are heading to Dubbo as part of tour Down Under
The Royal duo are heading Down Under in a few weeks with Sydney and Melbourne on the to-do-list, but one smaller destination has taken observers by surprise – Dubbo. With a population of just 55,000 the NSW town of Dubbo has people scratching their heads.
One local on social media posted: “We might not have NRL games here but we’ve bloody got Harry and Meghan coming to Dubbo. October 17, look out. Start prettying up the animals at the zoo, stat!”
Another commenter posted: “Harry and Meghan are going to Dubbo. I’m so confused.”
The couple will stay in Dubbo for one night, but they won’t be the first Royals to bunk down there, with The Queen visiting not once but twice in 1954 and 1992.
Speaking on the Today Show, the Dubbo Mayor said when the tour was announced “everything almost exploded in the city”.
Harry and Meghan’s tour is centred round the Invictus Games Sydney 2018, but will also stop in Fiji and Auckland David Beckham is expected to join Harry and Meghan in Australia after becoming an ambassador for the event.
