Canberra hosts Australian firsts as part of Enlighten 2017

From March 3-12, 10 of Canberra’s cultural institutions will open their doors after dark, inviting visitors to see them in a new light.

Six iconic buildings in the Parliamentary Triangle (Australian Parliament House, National Portrait Gallery, National Library of Australia, Museum of Australian Democracy, National Gallery of Australia and Questacon) and several satellite venues (Canberra Glassworks, National Arboretum of Canberra, National Zoo and Aquarium and the Australian National Botanic Gardens) will play host to visitors as they are lit up with colourful and moving displays.

Two interactive art displays will also make their Australian debut at Enlighten 2017: On the Wings Of Freedom, a butterfly-themed display from the UK, and CLOUD, a Canadian artwork created from repurposed light bulbs and pull-chain switches.

The Enlighten Night Noodle Markets will also open each night, serving up Asian street food.
