Disgruntled guests take to social media after Sydney maze event falls flat
Guests paid $45 to secure a ticket to the Bondi event, which promised a maze in a secret location that would lead guests to food, music and drinks.
But in another Fyre Festival-esque epic event fail, punters were reportedly met with not maze, but instead fake plants stuck onto the walls of a night club in Bondi Junction, where the event’s after-party was meant to take place.
Unsurprisingly, guests are fuming. One attendee took to social media saying, “This is the worst event I have been to…so disappointed – left after half an hour having has to buy a drink on top of the ridiculously overpriced tickets.”
Another said, “Why would they make it a secret location and then reveal that its (sic) in the same address as the after party??”
And one simply called it a “very good con”.
What’s worse is instead of responding to the online backlash, the event organiser, The Underground Arts Party, reportedly began deleting the negative Facebook comments, before deleting the event page entirely.
The Underground Arts Party told news.com.au that they would be issuing refunds to disgruntled guests, however Pedestrian reports said refunds have not yet been issued.
And so, another lesson is learnt in the reality of organising events – they’re complex and better left to the experts. May we suggest keeping in mind the old phrase “under promise and over deliver”?
