GCCEC Linkage Grant Program offers $5k grants to attract conferences to the Gold Coast
Now in its fifth year, the program run by the GCCEC will seek to award five, $5000 grants to South-East Queensland’s academic and professional sector.
The annual program supports individuals who are prepared to work with a bid team to attract and secure conferences for the Centre, which deliver economic and social benefit to the Gold Coast.
The Linkage Grant Program has bolstered working relationships between top academics and the Centre, resulting in an increase in international conference business.
Academic and professional staff from all disciplines and areas of interest are encouraged to apply, with the grant structured to enrich professional development, via funded attendance at correlating international conferences.
“Our relationships have fostered more opportunities and there’s an increased appetite for international conferences who continue to be enticed by our destination,” said GCCEC director of sales Michelle Mann.
“Last year, the Centre injected more than $18 million in economic benefit to the region, generated from international conference business alone.
“International conferences and events are looking for local chairpersons and associations to host gatherings and meetings. The Linkage Grant Program provides us with a means to introduce and establish key relationships between international and local associations, whilst investing in the professional development of the city’s academics.”
Each grant covers expenses associated with travel, accommodation and registration to the maximum value of the award.
“Applicants are highly motivated to host an international event and truly showcase what a progressive city we live and work in. We are excited to work with our recipients for mutually beneficial outcomes,” added Mann.
