Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) has kicked off a US$3.9 million project to rebuild its entire wi-fi system.

The new system will give visitors unlimited and complimentary wi-fi service, with the ability to support more than 20,000 mobile devices within the centre.

It will also support Location Based Services technology, allowing organisers to analyse guest behaviours, improve crowd management and enhance guest experience.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited managing director Monica Lee-Müller welcomed the news.

The new system will support more than 20,000 mobile devices.

“The HKCEC welcomes over 5.7 million visitors from around the world every year,” she said.

“We understand that a high speed, high density, reliable and media-rich wi-fi experience is vital in enabling them to keep in touch with their homes and offices at all times.”

The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2018.
