World’s leading eye specialists look to Melbourne for biennial congress
World-leading experts and healthcare specialists will gather at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to discuss new developments in ophthalmology and eye health from February 25-28, 2022.
In what is expected the largest ever conference for Victoria, the biennial congress will generate more than $85 million for the state.
Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) supported the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists to secure the event.
MCB CEO Karen Bolinger said the bureau’s “Team Melbourne” approach helped deliver the successful bid.
“Unique to our bid process is the collaborative, unified approach between the Bureau, Victorian State Government, City of Melbourne, Tourism Australia, MCEC, local host RANZCO and industry partners to collectively meet the ICO’s global objectives for the congress,” she said.
International Council of Ophthalmology president Professor Hugh Taylor welcomed the news.
“Along with world-leading convention facilities, the weather and dining will be superb and there are many exciting things to do in Melbourne and surrounds. It’s definitely an event not to miss,” said Taylor.
