Mitchelton Hotel and Spa offers luxury rural getaway in regional Victoria
A personal project of caravan magnate Gerry Ryan and his son Andrew, the $16 million Mitchelton Hotel and Spa is the most recent addition to the family’s Mitchelton Winery Estate, set on the banks of the Goulburn River.
The new hotel was conceived in partnership with architecture and interior design firm Hecker Guthrie to complement the property’s existing Robin Boyd structures, whilst paying homage to its rural location and wine producing background. The Mitchelton Hotel’s 58 rooms is comprised of the 33sqm ‘River’ or ‘Vineyard’ view categories through to four 57sqm suites.
“The Hotel and Day Spa is something that we wanted to develop early on with our acquisition of the estate,” said Andrew, managing director of the Mitchelton property.
“It has always been the missing piece in the puzzle for Mitchelton. Goulburn Valley and Nagambie have so much to offer, we have high hopes that the addition of the accommodation facility will help attract more visitors to the region and boost local tourism.”
Executive chef Jess Hayes is at the helm of Mitchelton’s restaurant, Muse. Drawing on her experience garnered both in Australia and abroad, Jess illustrates her diverse range of culinary knowledge by presenting a gastronomic repertoire that highlights both local produce and international trends.
