Lloyd Events upset that Perth Stadium contract went to interstate firm
Lloyd Events, who manages the audio-visual production contract at Subiaco Oval, thought it was a front runner for the contract at the new stadium, but was stunned when it learned that a firm that manages the contract at Adelaide Oval had been picked instead.
Speaking to The West, Lloyd Events director Michael Lloyd said the company is “exclusively West Australian”.
“Our bid was more than competitive,” he said. “We’ve got our runs on the board in terms of experience and I think that State Government projects should be supporting local businesses and that’s what the Government says.”
His plea was backed by Shadow Tourism Minister Libby Mettam, who said awarding any contracts to eastern states firms went against the government’s local jobs mantra.
