SafeWork SA acting executive director Chris McKie said the range of events and festivals held in Adelaide over the next few months raised diverse safety issues.

“SafeWork SA works with event organisers as they identify and address risks to workers and others,” he said.

“Our inspectors are involved at all stages of events and festivals, from the set-up to the bump-out, to ensure compliance with the state’s work health and safety laws.”

Inspectors will be helping event planners with compliance activity including verifying the safety of temporary structures, such as stages and marquees; electrical items; fireworks; amusement devices and the storage of dangerous substances such as LPG.

SafeWork SA industry advisors will also be working with event organisers and associated hospitality industry operators to provide education on how to identify, assess and manage workplace risks.

This can include visits from mobile work health and safety advisors who provide tailored support.
