Disney-themed experiences to be rolled out across Singapore
The collaboration will kick off with a three-day Star Wars festival held at Gardens by the Bay, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars this year.
STB chief executive Lionel Yeo said the collaboration will help to attract visitors from Southeast Asia and beyond, and boost business for local event organisers.
“The multi-year activations will profile our attractions and precincts in Singapore, beginning with Gardens by the Bay for the Star Wars festival held in May,” said Yeo.
“Our collaboration with Disney will also offer plentiful opportunities for local event organisers and SMEs to grow their businesses and enhance their capabilities in world class branded entertainment events.”
Other Star Wars-themed activations will be launched in the second half of 2017, before Marvel and Disney Animation/Disney Pixar themes are rolled out in 2018 and 2019 respectively.
The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia managing director Rob Gilby said the partnership is the first of its kind with a national tourism body in Southeast Asia.
“This multi-year collaboration with the Singapore Tourism Board provides more exciting opportunities and unique experiences for us to take the Disney brand of storytelling closer to our Singapore fans as well as visitors from the region,” said Gilby.
