The Calyx opens in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens

the-calyxThe space is home to the southern hemisphere’s largest contiguous green wall complete with over 18,000 plants arranged into living artworks.

The Calyx features themed exhibitions which are available for viewing by the public during the day. The current exhibition, Sweet Addiction, explores the botanic story of chocolate in partnership with Lindt chocolate.

Event professionals recently caught a glimpse of how the space can be used for events and got a taste of what food and beverage options are available through The Calyx’s hospitality partner Trippas White Group.

The versatile space can be configured for seated and cocktail events both indoor and outdoor, with a capacity of up to 400 guests in a cocktail configuration.

The venue’s name comes from the horticultural term “calyx” meaning “the sepals of a flower, typically forming a whorl that encloses the petals and forms a protective layer around a flower in bud”.
