Crystalbrook Collection invests in three new premier hotels for Cairns
Crystalbrook Collection CEO Mark Davie said the company decided to invest in Cairns after recognising a need to meet the forecasted growth in tourism within the region.
“We believe that Cairns is in need of high quality hotels. These hotels are set to be premium properties, delivering guests unique lifestyle experiences and leading accommodation options,” he said.
The first of the hotels is 137 Esplanade, previously operating as Rydges Tradewinds, that will be redeveloped to create a 311-room hotel tower with a 12-storey tower built alongside. Beginning construction this year, the property is set to be operational by July 2018.
Set to open early 2019, 163 Abbott Street will hold two towers: one a 222-room hotel with function rooms, restaurants and bars and the other a 110-room apartment complex.
The third hotel, 85 Esplanade, will feature 300 rooms and a street food dining experience that is set to open in October 2019.
Davie also confirmed the collection will be self-managed, turning down interest from major hotel chains to manage the assets.
“We plan to respond authentically to the new customers we hope to bring to the area and feel the best way to do this is by self-managing our operations right here from Cairns,” he said.
