The winners of the 2017 Australian Events Awards were announced last night at a celebration on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

TEDxSydney 2017 wins CIM Magazine Best Meeting or Conference

TEDxSydney 2017, organised by Belle Laide Events, took home the CIM Magazine Best Meeting or Conference award, meanwhile Destination NSW’s Vivid Sydney 2017 took out two awards: Best Tourism Event and Best Cultural, Arts or Music Event.

CIM Magazine managing editor Sheridan Randall with a representative of Belle Laide Events who won the CIM Magazine Best Meeting or Conference award for TEDxSydney 2017.

The award for Best New Event went to Yaffa Media for the Bowral Classic 2016 and the Best Achievement in Marketing, Communication or Sponsorship award went to Tourism Australia for their work on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2017.

David Atkins took out Event Producer of the Year, while Rizer took home the award for Australia Event Management Company of the Year.

Event director Ignatius Jones received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Event director Ignatius Jones received the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognised for his work in the events industry. Jones has been the creative director of Vivid Sydney since 2011, was a major creative force behind the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies and, as its first artistic director, was instrumental in creating Sydney New Year’s Eve.
